Plastic-dyed films are the origin of window tint. in 1966 Ameragaurd invented the first successful roll of plastic-dyed window film. While window tint has excelled significantly over the years, plastic dyed films have maintained the placeholder as the most cost efficient films, while still offering the privacy, UV Blockage, and heat rejection needed to give a vehicle the look and feel every owner desires!
By the early 90’s the window tint industry had evolved. Scientist learned that by mixing metal particles into the plastic dyed film they could create a “hybrid-plastic/metal based film” this new technology offered significantly higher heat rejection and a longer lifespan. The invention of this film initiated a seg-way to the high heat rejection films we have today!
In the early 2000’s, like many other industries, the window tint business experienced another huge breakthrough in technology with a ceramic material. Ceramic films are the latest and greatest films on the market, offering almost twice as much heat rejection, high visual clarity, nanotechnology, and an eternal lifespan!
Fast forward to the early 2020’s, XPEL introduced their “Premium Ceramic Film.” In today’s time, this is the latest and greatest luxury window tint package on the market! Keeping out a staggering 98% of infra-red heat, this premium ceramic film carries all the benefits of a regular ceramic film while offering the highest heat rejection known to man!
